  Choquequirao Trek 4D/3N

Day 1. Cusco to Tambobamba Bridge to San Ignacio Bridge. 7 hours drive, 197 km. 3 hours trekking
Leaving Cusco towards the Southwest, we will drive along the mountain chain of Vilcabamba admiring spectacular views throughout our drive. We will stop to visit the Monolith of Saywite and drive to the bridge Tambobamba, where we will have lunch. After resting, and with the help of local porters and horses, we will begin a rolling downhill walk to the River Apurimac, at 1500 m asl, reaching the bridge of San Ignacio. Here we will have dinner and spend the night camping.

Day 2. Bridge of San Ignacio to Choqequirao. 5 hours trekking—1500mt asl to 3100mts asl
In the early morning, after drinking something warm, we will begin a 4th degree uphill hike, which begins by crossing the San Ignacio bridge over the River Apurimac. The hike pauses at the half way mark to rest and eat a warm breakfast. Then we continue till we reach Choquequirao. Dinner and overnight camping.

Day 3. Choquequirao full day.
We will visit this unique archaeological site, located on the highest part of the mountain. Here we will observe spectacular views of mountain ranges and of the Apurimac River. The mountains form part of the Cordillera of Vilcabamba. We will visit the extensive Inca Citadel, divided in different sectors such as Usnu, the Llama Sector, the Offering Site; and the Pacchayoc Waterfalls located in the lower sector which we will visit in the afternoon. We will have lunch and dinner at our campsite and spend the night there.

Day.4 Choqequirao to Cusco. 5 hours trekking/horseback riding, 7 hour drive.
We will begin our journey back early in the morning, always accompanied by our guide. Half way through our descent we will eat a hot breakfast and rest and then continue until we reach the bridge of San Ignacio.

There we will rest and eat lunch. We will continue our return with the help of porters and ride horses to the bridge of Tambobamba, where our car will be waiting for the drive back to Cusco.
