
Day 1 – Cusco
– Mollepata – Soraipampa; Approximately
15km/Descending (7 hours)
We set out on the road from Cusco to Mollepata,
starting the trek with the help of porters
and mules, and slowly climb until we reach
the remarkable highlands surrounding the Soraipampa
community. After the first ascent, we will
make camp, eat dinner, and spend the night.
Day 2 – Soraipampa Chaullay:
Colcapampa (3300 m.) Aproximately 15km/Ascending
and Descending (8 hours)
Climb Mount Salkantay to Wayraqpunku Pass
(4578 m.).
During the day, we behold the spectacular
views of Mount Salkantay (6264 m.) and Mount
Tucurhuay (5910 m.). This is the most difficult
part of the trek, yet once accomplished, we
will have acclimated ourselves and established
the appropriate rhythm for the journey.
From the pass, we descend to the Colcapampa
camp with its welcoming hot springs, providing
much needed relaxation for tired and aching
bodies after the long day's trek. We eat dinner
in the camp and sleep in tents.
Day 3 – Colcapampa (3300 m.)
– Playa (2200 m.); Approximately 16
km/Descending (09 hours)
This day's trail descends continuously towards
the village of Playa and offers us vistas
of indescribable beauty since the entire route
cuts through a Cloud Forest. We arrive at
Playa in the afternoon, eat dinner in the
camp and sleep in tents.
Day 4 Playa – Santa Teresa
– Aguas Calientes; Approximately 09
km/Descending (2.5 hours)
We take to the trail again in the morning
for the 09 kilometers that separate the two
villages. We stop at the hydroelectric plant
and by the afternoon we are on the train speeding
towards Aguas Calientes (30 minute ride).
We eat a lunch in camp and in the late afternoon
or evening, we stop at the Hot Springs to
rest and relax Dinner and accommodations are
in your selected hotel /hostel.
Day 5 – Machupicchu –
Cusco; Approximately 17 km/Descending
By morning, we are ready for the trip to the
Sanctuary. We take a round trip bus ride from
Aguas Calientes to Machupicchu returning for
lunch. In the afternoon, we board the train
to Ollantaytambo, where our car will be waiting
to take us the rest of the way to Cusco, arriving
there at night.
