Testimonies
Lyndsay Green
In August 2007 South American Wonders.com tailor-made an action-packed
three-week trip for our family that allowed us to experience the Amazonian jungle, the Andes, and the coastal desert, and included the cities of Lima and Cusco. Our trip included five days boating down
the Rio Alto Madre de Dios in the Manu Biosphere Reserve, and a four-
day trekking expedition to Choquequirao. We traveled to many of the
renowned Incan ruins including Machu Picchu, Pisac, Ollantaytambo and
Sacsayhuaman, and spent several days in Nasca exploring the famed
Nasca Lines.
Despite being rank amateurs we experienced extraordinary bird
watching including the illusive Cock of the Rock, Peru’s national
bird at a courtship lek, and waves of parakeets, parrots, and macaws
at the Blanquillo clay lick. Our marvelous animal sightings included
a tapir, a giant anteater, monkeys, caimans and capybaras. The flora
and fauna were rich in variety in each region, such as the giant
cotton trees, bromeliads and heliconia of the Amazon.
The success of our complicated and demanding trip depended on the
organizational skills of the travel company, their in depth knowledge
of the country, and their ability to hire the best guides. outh American Wonders.com performed with excellence on every count. They expertly managed tight schedules requiring interconnections between
van drivers, plane schedules, boat operators, mule drivers, and hotel
and lodge operators. In every case we felt they designed the ideal itinerary to highlight the best of the region, and paced the trip to
allow us to squeeze in the maximum experiences. Our guides were consistently knowledgeable and enthusiastic, as well as being great
company.
We were privileged to have been able to plunge into this country and
experience so much of its richness and diversity in such a short timeframe. This was made possible thanks to Paititi Peru Expeditions,
who designed a trip for our family that so perfectly fit our interests and packed in so much in the time available. We were
privileged to have spent time with so many remarkable Peruvians who
were generous in sharing their knowledge about their country. The greatest privilege has been getting to know Peru through the eyes of
people who love their country, who understand its value, and who are
committed to its future.
